ABOUT

I am a graphic designer with over 35 years of experience in the print industry.

I began my career with a small town print shop where I was fortunate to have extensive on-the-job training in the pre-press department as well as cross-training in all aspects of the shop. Way back then, you were called a typesetter if you set the text that would be used for whatever print piece was being worked on. I began learning the ins and outs of fonts and formatting.  In the pre-press department, I worked with cameras, negatives, lay-out and plate-burning.

As the industry changed, so did the pre-press department. Soon I changed to digital layout programs on Mac format.

On Mac, I worked with Quark Xpress and Adobe Photoshop. Gone were the days of the typesetting and what was called stripping to lay out the pages. Now, it was all done digitally.

While working for the print shop, I worked on many brochures, product labels, magazines and various other types of print media.

Then, I was approached by a local business to become the graphic design director for a new project on which they were embarking. At that time, we began the Arkansas Weekly newspaper.

While working on Arkansas Weekly, I enhanced my abilities in the digital design world. Technology changed and so did my talent. I find myself now the head of the pre-press production for a weekly publication, dealing with deadlines, pressure and personalities.

In 2014, I began submitting entries to the Arkansas Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. By being a member of the APA, you may submit your work to be judged by others in the industry. I have created a tab at the top for my APA awards.

I look forward to working with clients and having them put their trust in me. I am very proud of the work I do and I give my best to every project.
